Hiho all,

I have finally got my spec together for my first pc build, as the total costs amount to £1200, I am buying just the basice to start off.

Can anyone spot any major holes in the spec below? This is my first build so bit of a noob!

Component Product Price
Processor 955 142.52
MSI 790FX – GD70 129.67
Dark Pro 650W 103.36
XFX HD4890 148.12
Corsair 4gb 81.32
Velociraptor 150gb 123.37
Spinpoint f3 1tb 55.95
X-fi Xtreme Gamer 73.98 (cheaper on scan)
BenQ G2220HD 138.23
Antec 902 90.49
Sony AD 7240S 24x 15.99
Vista/Windows 7 86.68
Logitech x-230 30
Noctua NH-U12P 45.69
Total 854.1 to build now 1265.37

I wont be buying the aftermarket cooler initially, is this ok?

Any help is really appreciated!!! thanks again

I would opt for the Antec 1200 & Antec 850W bundle click here instead for only £6-7 extra. The 1200 is larger though, but should be easier to work with. The Antec 850W PSU with 4x dedicated PCI-E connectors has a distinct advantage over the 2-connector Be Quiet 650W.

Consider at least 3 other HD4890s that may have better coolers for similar money, e.g. MSI click here, HIS click here & Asus click here. Asus GPUs (& motherboards) carry a 3-year warranty click here.

Yes, you'll be fine without the aftermarket cooler, which is really only necessary if you're going to overclock the CPU.

Save £20 by getting Win7 for £65 from Amazon click here or Dixons click here.

You may want to reconsider going for a XtremeGamer 7.1 card & 2.1 speakers - you'll get next to no benefit compared to the onboard motherboard audio. And at £70+, I reckon it's grossly over-priced - it used to sell for £30 less a few months ago. G
