password on bios!

Just got a laptop 2nd hand,all working ok but found am limited to software i can load,and undelete as there is a password on the bio's,so i can't get on to control panel to add or remove anything..Switch off and on,then if i go into or try....say...input password....Any idea's or pin's need shorting? or should i got my nmoney back????? Model: Acer Aspire 1360

Are you sure the password is in the BIOS? I'd have thought that a bios password would prevent the machine from starting, not simply adding / removing software.

What operating system are you using? Sounds more like a control problem via the OS.

Perhaps it's a user account password of some sort.
Can't you contact the person you bought it off and ask them the password?

Sounds like you have a "Limited Account" in XP. Try booting into safe mode and log in as an administrator. Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel and change your account to administrator status.
