Orange has just imposed a compulsory new charge of £2.00 per month on all the accounts which do not pay their subs by direct debit - what an imposition - why does anyone stay with them ? - ja

There's doing what a company has a perfect right to do, and then there's taking the mickey. It seems as if Orange is one of an increasing number of companies that are starting to push it a bit too far.

I think that maybe it's about time for the FSA (or other relevant body) to review this practice of penalising those who do not use direct debit. The companies claim that DD is cheaper to administer, but that doesn't really add up. A payment is processed, a bill is posted....

Vote with your feet/wallet, if your contract terms allow it of course.

BT have been charging £4:50 for the same thing since last May.

I read in the paper only yesterday morning that there is a chance they may be told to re-imberse the charge to existing customers (which is about 80%).

Others have simply deducted that amount from their bill.
