Thanks TomJerry All look like exelent laptops. Im having a look at them now. The more I think about it the more i think ight like a tablet pc. do asus make tablets?

I would be willing to put up with a bit of extra weight to have an onboard cd rom drive and extra battery life.

I was using a toshiba protoge R100 until a couple of weeks ago and my only complaint was the lack of a built in drive. I had a usb drive but this mide life extremely difficult when i wanted to format my hard drive. aswell as this it was another piece of ket to carry around.

£999 from Microanvika click here, click here

Tablet is excellent idea, I am also in the same situation as you, cannot decide which to get, ultra portable or tablet. You cannot find tablet with cd/dvd driver, Acer ones are good, but HP Campaq one is good as well.

Check out latest Japaness laptop click here, really wonder why noone import them into uk. The one I would like to get (need to ask Santa) is Panasonic W2 with DVD writer only 1.29kg

Maybe you can check out Sony Vaio U71P and OQO if you like touch screen, both can be bought from shirtpockt, a uk-based supplier click here
