I have owned a Coolpix 2100 for 9 months now. It does everything it says on the box very well. Its robust too as mine survived an accident on my motorbike that wrote off my crash helmet and jacket, but only scuffed up the case of the camera that was in my jacket pocket.

ok thanks
the review on steves-digicams.com seems v. good, and the sample pictures look nice. i might get one today. and it uses compact flash :) woohoo!

I just had a look at the spec for the 2200 the differences seem to be the addition of two more colour modes, but the removal of the NiMH batteries and charger that came with the 2100. I dont know if the 2100 will run on Alkaline AA batteries I never did try but the 2200 does. You can at least guarantee to be able buy and use a couple of batteries from almost anywhere if they run down. But perhaps you can with the 2100 as well does anyone know for sure?

ok cheers
does the 2100 then come with nimh batteries and a charger? i think ill be getting it from jessops later today

  anchor 12:25 31 Jan 04

No the 2100 does not come with NiMh batteries and charger. Steve's Digicam review says that they can be used, and recommends 2100mAh ones.

These, and reasonable priced Compact Flash Cards, can be obtained from:

e.g.

Charger and 4x 2200mAh NiMh batteries for £22.

64Mb CompactFlash card £12, 128Mb for £23.

Sorry you have been given some wrong information the Coolpix 2100 comes with 2 X NiMH batteries and the charger. As I said earlier I have owned one for 9 months. I can also recommend you try purchasing from click here I got one there recently for the lady friend complete as described but also with a Nikon Leather case, extra 64mb flash card, mini tripod, free delivery all for £162.00 last time I looked they were down to £159.00.
