I am sure there are members who can tell you about Eclipse - I have no personal experience of them.

Your specs look okay except I would have thought you might want a bigger Hard Drive. 250 is quite small by today's standards.

Thanks for the reply.

I agree about the HD except I will be retaining a 320GB sata drive from a new PC that is being returned for a refund, so I will be using that as the 'master'. The 250GB will be for back-ups.

cheers

personally if i was you i would avoid eclipse at all costs, i have only had one dealing with them and it was not good, bascially i placed an order and they decided not to honour it and not a word from them to give me a reason why, they dont reply to emails they dont answer the phones and i would never buy from them again.

click here for 81 reviews on them, and they tend not to be good

Oh dear, that doesn't sound too good. Where on earth can one get the spec you want, at a reasonable cost, with good service? Probably nowhere eh?

Try Cougar click here

Thanks - this seems closest to the spec I posted earlier:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16 GHz 6Mb Cache, 4Gb Corsair Memory DDR2 800 (2 x 2gb), 250Gb SATA Hard Drive,
1024mb 9500GT PCI Express Nvidia DDR DVI, QCE - MSI P43 NEO - 1600FSB DDR2 1066x4 P43 chipset, DVD+/- RW - 18X Samsung Lightscribe,
No Floppy Disk Drive, Integrated Sound Card, Intergrated Monitor Speakers,
No Operating System,
13 Month Warranty, Free Carriage

£440.33 inc vat

Over £100 more or have I selected something wrong?

You never really did say why you are averse to building one yourself?

From most of what I have read if I wanted a bare-bones syatem I would tend to go to Novatech - but that is clearly not an option for you.

For an office machine (is it just for that?) then do you really need to have an E8500 processor or would a lesser processor be sufficient?
If you are running 32 bit then it will not recognise all of the 4 Gb RAM. You could make a small saving by stopping at 3 Gb or even 2 Gb for most office purposes.

Spec looks OK and cannot argue with the cost..but you get what you pay for. Novatech has been mentioned and they seem to get good reviews form most on this forum. Is the graphics card from Cougar more expensive than your original one ?

ened - the main aversion is successfully mating the heat sink to the cpu - get it worng and it fries!

Woolwell - the present system I have (being returned as faulty) is running XP Pro and has 4GB of ram, which I believe it recognises?

Novatech - hmm - not too happy with them at present - 'least said, soonest mended'.
