New Graphics Card

I'm looking for a new graphics card. My budget is about £100 so I was wondering what would be best for me? Also: would an Nvidia Geforce 8600 or 7900 be best? It'd be great if you gave me any good sites that sell them cheap :P

The purchase of a new card depends upon what you need it for.

For playing high end games you need a good card, but usually at a price.

check out the PCA magazine for the top charts...

yea, i'll be playing new games, which is why i need to upgrade :P

The 7900 is a really good card and which will perform better than the 8600 but.. The 8600 is the newer technology which will be needed for many of the upcoming games. The most important of these being DirectX10, but you need Vista for you to actually use X10. My I ask what ur PSU rating is?

Uh.. whats a PSU rating? :$

I'm not going to be getting vista soon, and if i do, it'll probably be in a new computer.. So DX10 won't be much use for me

The wattage of your computer power supply, some of the more powerful cards need a higher PSU to run them. Id go the the 7900 its a really good card, have a look on Ebay some good prices on the 7 series cards now.

oh :$

how do i find it out?

If u open ur case and locate the PSU (look to see where ur power lead is insereted at the back). The power rating should be on a label.
