Need a copy of XP

My hard drive broke on my Emachines PC. It's out of warranty but that's not the part I'm worried about any way. Basically my recover disc for XP Home relies on a hidden partition which I no longer have. Does the company have any obligation to give me a copy of the disc for my OS? Just to make absolutely clear, I'm out of warranty.

I would not have thought they have an obligation as the warrenty has finished. You could try contacting emachines and see if they will help you.

Ok, thanks.

You will have a product key on a label on your PC. With this you can borrow a XPHome CD and re-install using your own key, onto a new drive. It won't recover any programs on top of the basic WinXP, but will give you a working system.
