Naive question re Core2Duo?

Hi,
Can some one tell me if the Core2duo, say at 1.8 is translated as 3.6 total, so much faster and more powerful than a single 1.8? Seems a very naive question but would really appreciate some info on this.

It's not all about clock speed.

The core2duo is the better CPU.

The simple way to think of any duel core processors, does not matter if it is intel duel core or core 2 duo or amd's turion 64 X2 or whatever is two normal processors stuck together (is more technical than that) so yes 1.8ghz core 2 duo is like have 2 1.8ghz processors side by side but as has already been pointed out there is a lot more to determining how good a processor actually is.

no idea if you want to know about desktop or notebook processors but here is a comparison of notebook processors click here and as you will see lower clock speed processors can perform better than those with higher clock speeds
