My iPod question that must be answered!!!!!!!!!

Not really but I heard that if you sent in your iPod in to get a e.g. battery raplaced Apple will replace it with the most up to date battery they have and software. Also I heard that the iPod case is not designed to be opened or closed after it being born. Doing so damages it. So if I send my G3(no longer being made) iPod in to get a battery replacement will it come back with the G4 iPod software and cases since the G3 iPod has been discontinued? I am asking this because I do not know if Apple still make cases for the G3. Anyone that has experence with this please reply!

To remove the cover on the iPod, whether 3rd Gen or 4th Gen.

I had links to several guides which allowed users to change the batteries themselves. I can find this if that would be of any use.

It's pretty easy to do, without damaging the casing at all, but I'm sure that if Apply did damage the case, they'd then replace it with their own stock.
