I am not asking for Help just want to get it off my chest.
Have been running Windows 7 prior to that Vista though the PC came with XP Media but was told by the manufacturer (Evesham) that it was Vista ready.
Have just developed a problem in starting up Gets as far as :-
Auto Dectecting .. Pri Master ATAPI etc etc
Auto Dectecting .. Sec Master

And there we stay for some 3/4 minutes
Then all carries on as normal

Have been onto the Motherboard Manufacturer (MSI) and they say the motherboard is not suitable for vista or Windows 7. Only for XP.

I did run the Microsoft compatibility test prior to installing Windows 7 and was told by Microsoft that was AOK.
So I guess I have to replace motherboard.

An IDE drive was standard a few years ago and I would expect Vista to not have any problems with it. Check your BIOS for any unusual settings for the hard drives e.g. that they're not set for RAID. It's a while since I used IDE drives but I think that rather than Auto Detect you can have the BIOS identify it and the CD/DVD.
