Microsoft Windows XP - 64 bit version

I am in the process of purchasing a new computer. As with the last one I would like to "futureproof" it at purchase. I am told that Microsoft are to produce a 64 bit version of Windows XP by the last quarter of this year. The question is :- can anyone tell me if this will be an "update" OR will this be a new system to be purchased days / weeks after paying for the current version of Windows XP.

I doubt if you will see it before the end of the year but if it is out by then you will have to pay

Unless you have a server running 40 computers you will find no benefit to 64bit. Hype.
