Microgate - ever heard of them?

I have been looking for an internet PC company that would build me the PC I want, which isnt particularly spectacular, say £400-£500. I have been put off the likes of PCSpecialist and GoldenElectronics due to reports in forums like this one... but one company I cannot find anything on, other than a passing comment is microgate.co.uk. Of all I have looked at, they can build my ideal PC, but I cannot find any reports of their service, good or bad. I am tempted to think "no news is good news". Some digging suggests they have been operating since Feb 06; they website is very good and professional looking. So any experience anyone? Thanks, Dave.

The website may be good, but I wouldn't say "professional looking" in my opionio... and it is only my opinion.

Anyway, someone called anthonyW just ordered one so may be worth keeping an eye on this thread:

I have had a PC from PCSpecialist.co.uk and know other people who have had too. From my experience, they are great.

Super fast delivery and good customer service/support.

wow,

I found topic about microgate :)
I want to share my experience dealing with them. I think I was one of the first microgate buyers. I ordered my pc at 29.06.2006 and I agreed with them that it will be shipped next wednesday. PC was delivered in time and well packed. It runing ok with no problems, I only once reinstalled windows due to virus attack. 5/5

A possible disadvantage with buying from a new source of PC supplier...in this case Feb 06 according to DaveWB. Is whether they will remain in business long enough to honour the warranty.

I hope they are successful, but this is something that would deter me from buying.

...but thats a double-edged sword. If everyone thinks like that, and no-one buys their wares, they won't stay in business anyway, whether they are a good, reliable company or cowboys.

By the way, the source for my info on the origins of this company came from here click here

I am not being disparaging about the company or it's products....I sincerely hope they will be successful. The fact that they are new is advantageous to a purchaser as they trying to build up goodwill.

For those interested in following Microgate's peformance, I received my PC from Microgate before Christmas, which is covered in another thread.

Anyway, after few days use, particularly when playing intensive 3d games, it developed a graphics corruption bug.

After some investigating, the GPU was running at way excessive temperatures, 120+ degC, during 3d graphics, and I suspect it has been damaged by this. Looking in the case, the heat sink had been prized off the video card by the PCIExpress lock lever whatsit...

I have exchanged several emails with their tech support, who have been very responsive and helpful, I have to say. Upshot is I now have to return the card to them for some testing, and hopefully, a replacement.

I will post how this goes...
