no matter when you buy it, once you bought it, the price drop a week later.

If you need now, just buy it.

In my view, this is the best time to buy PCs because all import goods (especialy laptp which come mostly from Taiwan) are priced in dollar. The pound to dollar exchange rate is on 12 years high. In my view, dollar will not drop much further.

all depends on your requirements

(1) do you want to play graphics intensive games such as half life 2

(2) screen size, 12", 14", 15", 17"

(3) portability, heavy one normally 3.4+kg, portable one 2.7kg, ultra-portable one 1.3kg

(4) brand name?

Is it posisble with laptops to get more then 4 hour battery life?

  TomJerry 01:25 19 Dec 04

some laptop reviews indicates some can be as long as 8 hours

you need to get laptop with Intel® Pentium® M Processor (or called Centrino processor) if you want long battery life.

Systemax TourBook® 5250 was reviewed in a mag a few months ago, you may be still able not find it.

found review for 5207 (older model than 5250) in PCPro Nov. 2004

to find a laptop that runs for 8 hours on the battery - at least not if you do any work on it.

The amount of time a laptop will run on a full battery charge varies enormously, depending on the power drain. The more you use it the less time a battery charge will last, and over the years I have discoverd that a good rule of thumb is to take the manufacturer's claimed charge life and halve it.

I know some people dislike Dell immensely, but I;ve used them twice and been really impressed by their build quality...
