ISP for use within the EU

A friend of mine is doing the Europe tour thing for a few months (lucky sod) and wants to take his laptop with him for e-mail and internet. He would like to know if there is an ISP that does 'Pay-as-you-go' sort of thing that he can use anywhere in Europe? Does not want to set up a Direct Debit or Debit Card. I've suggested using internet cafes and hotmail as the easiest solution. If anyone knows any different I'd be interested in knowing. Thanks in advance...

Your suggestion is easiest but try Wanadoo click here They are French but cover most of continental Europe and I think the either run or have a strong interest in Freeserve.
