I want to build a new PC primarily for gaming and a looking at an intel dual core 2*2.8 820 processor but am concerned that when Vista 64bit comes along it will be redundant.
Question is will it work with 64bit applications in the future or should I go for a dual core AMD 64 bit instead and if so which one? Help....

Go with AMD - they are better priced and equal in any other way.

Thsnkd for the input but it has not answered my core questions - will the Intel processor work with 64bit applications in the future or should I go for a dual core AMD 64 bit instead and if so which one?

Going on memory[not always 100%] I think that one of the motherboard chipsets has a problem with this 2.8 cpu so would do a little esearch on that as well

Your CPU of choice will support 64bit software click here

they'll all support 64bit software.

AMD is better as said, their socket 939 athlon x2 is the best IMO and the cost is falling.
