The Palicomp Phoenix i5 Sonar Extreme http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/desktop-pc/3300356/palicomp-phoenix-i5-sonar-extreme-review/ looks good for futureproofing as i5 is nearly the best around at the moment (which is good enough for me), the K has better on board graphics, the 1155 socket will allow chip upgrades, it has USB3.0, plenty of RAM slots and extra HDD connections, Z68 allows overclocking and SSD caching

So why aren't there similar deals around for this price bracket?

Palicomp tell they will supply the system, delivery included, for £500

First reviews I came to on Google.

Make sure the parts advertised are the parts that you get with the computer.

because it's the lowest price for this combination, I am put off by the complaints I see against Palicomp. z68 seems to be futureproof and i5 2500k capable. why is self-build not cheaper?

"the K has better on board graphics".

If you are referring to the i5 2500 vs i5 2500K, then the 'K' has nothing to do with onboard graphics - it means that the processor's multiplier is unlocked which allows for easy overclocking. For those not wishing to overclock their processors, there is absolutely no difference between the 2500 and 2500K.

If I have misunderstood you then I appologise in advance.

The 2500K does have a better integrated GPU, though. It has the HD 3000 GPU, and the 2500 has the slower HD 2000.

I stand corrected. I was never aware of that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Well, I only knew about it because I bought an i5 2500 last week, and did some pre-purchase research.
