The subject says it all. How can someone be able to set up a forum (like the PCA) and how can one moderate it, ie. delete threads, stop further threads.

Is the software available to buy and then integrate into HTML???

Perhaps the FE may have some insight in this matter and pass us some tricks of the trade!!!

click here for a free easy to set up forum, as admin you have full control and you can appoint other admins and moderators with more limited powers. It's very easy to do, I admin one board and moderate at another.

has been custom built - a long and fairly complex process. Running an online forum has become the new fashion, there are literally tens of thousands of them out there.

Most of them are fairly short-lived because they are based on chat-type threads, and have a limited appeal. Some are pretty good, and lots of them are dreadful, but that's the Internet for you, it's made publishers of us all.

Run a search for forum software and you'll come up with dozens of options. You'll need server space, usually with PHP and MySQL or another database installed. You'll also need lots of time if you plan to do this seriously, and don't fall into the trap of allowing everyone to say just what they like - within a short space of time you'll simply end up with a few people indulging in endless interpersonal abuse.

Most important in any forum is for it to be fashioned around an interesting subject - interesting to a reasonably large number of people, that is.

The study of the finer points of the droppings of the Patagonian mountain mouse will not generate much appeal and you may well find yourself the only forum member.

Some of the forums I've seen are almost as esoteric as that example. They don't last very long.

Something you could try as a starter, as well as Pesala's suggestion is to set up on Yahoo Groups click here These are free and some have a very large membership. They are on almost any subject.
