How do I make a imageing application the default?

I am useing w98 2se and have downloaded some stuff from colledge which will only run if I have windows Paint as the default imageing application but, I don't know how to do this can anyone help???

If i remember rightly what you have to do is right click on one of the files you want to always open in paint, then goto open with and choose program, then there should be a tick box saying always use this applications tick that then double click the paint application.

Im pretty sure its something along those lines, i dont have a windows 98 se machine near me atm, so i couldnt say 100%

Use the Open With menu to choose your required default application.

Hold down shift as well as right clicking the mouse on selecting a filetype to associate or the "open with" option won't appear.

Ps this should really be in the helproom not consumerwatch.
