My new HP pavilion t550 has a hardware problem and John Lewis have kindly offered to give me a new pc. Unfortuately they don't have any of the t550 in stock so offered a t660 - I managed to find out that this had a much smaller harddrive (Dabs.com). I couldn't find it on HP's site as it is no longer produced. Similarly, JL want to offer a t580 but before I say, yes thanks, how can I check out the spec if the pc is no longer produced - anyone know where I could get this information?

Also is it ok to accept athalon 64 instead of pentium 4?

T580 click here

T660 click here.

I've used AMD and Pentium chips and never had any problem with either.

Thanks for the links. I had already found the t580 - but given the price I'm pretty certain that this isn't what they have in mind to offer as a replacement for something I only paid £650 for! Maybe they want to make up for the inconvenience or something ................
