Hi spec laptop advice needed

  jimmylove 07:44 29 Jul 04

I'm sponsoring an architecture student through university and she needs a laptop with minimun 512 RAM and 80Gb HDDD. It must be portable, reliable and have a good warranty. I was thinking of getting the one I have (Vaio Z1SXP) but am not sure that the warranty is good enough. Any suggestions up to around £1800 as to what I should get her? I needs to be fairly powerful and I'd also like her to be able to pick up the phone should anything go wrong and have it picked up and returned easily or even better fixed on site. SOftware not an issue, just need advice for the laptop itself.

For reliability, nothing beats Toshiba, you can get 3 years international warrenty. I used a few Toshibas from early day when Laptop is transportable, not portable. Never have any problem with them.

I think you can do a test to see how good is a company's services. Phone their support line to see how they treat you.

By the way, Toshiba has a specail deal for university students. Even you have deep pocket, it is not a bad idea to save a few pounds.

My recent experience with laptop tech support is with Higrade, excellent I must say.
