Hi All

Here is my can of worms.

Be interesting to see how many PC out there have the same (OEM KEY) operating system installed.

And don’t know that they have.

I have 5 computers with same OS key.
(from system builder = name of company witheld at this time)

The only way I know ?

I bought all computers at same time.

I can still update OS from 5 computers and Microsoft has not sent a bolt of lighting down the line (so far)

Have original OEM keys and going to switch them over but pain in the butt....anyone know of quick way to change them over without taking out OS and reinstalling as it can take 40 to 50 mins for each one.

Regards

wallstreet,

this is a common occurence, and nothing to worry about.

I ordered four HP laptops at Xmas, (two for my daughters, and paid for by me), and two for a friends daughter. All have the same OEM number for XP Pro.

This is NORMAL. System builders do not have the time to sit and manually enter in each machines license key, the machine's unique key will be on the side of the case!

it is - as the others have pointed out - a prefectly normal situation for OEM copies of Windows preinstalled by a computer manufacturer.

An OEM Copy of Software is for the pc that it is installed on ONLY.
Full Software can be used on any pc's BUT only on one pc at a time.

I'm sorry? I don't think anyone has made any reference to OEM software being installed on more than one computer have they?
