Hi there,
I have a perfectly serviceable Acer Aspire 5000 which unfortunately, my small son shut the lid on whilst a USB memory lid was lying on the keyboard. Result - screen destroyed, except for a one inch column on the left hand side!
I tried phoning a repair shop and they quoted £200 to repair, which if you're a canny buyer - you could probably almost find a second hand one of these for. I think it would be worth replacing for say upto £100. I can run it on an external monitor, but that's not much use on the train!
Does anyone know where I might find a reasonably priced screen? It's 15.4" widescreen display. Although not experienced with the technical work, I would have a go at changing over the screens myself if I could find one!

I would think ebay is your best chance (but still not cheap)
