help with hdmi setup

I have a sony dvd recordermodel rdr-hxd870 and a sony tv model kdl-32s3000 and get my tv signal via virgin when I connect the tv and dvd recorder through the hdmi lead the picture is great but there is no sound the hdmi cable is a fisual hollywood v1.3 high purity 26awg conductor,to get sound when using the hdmi connection I need to connect seperate audio leads, can any one help please.

You should only need the HMDI cable connected between the TV and DVD/HD recorder. I have the Sony RDR-HXD770 connected to a Samsung LCD TV via HMDI with no problems.

You could try removing the HDMI lead and reseating it.

Try the HDMI lead in another HDMI socket

Or try another cable.

Just a thought if it is the Virgin channels that you are missing the sound from and this is connected to the DVD/HD recorder via scart lead it could be the scart lead that requires reseating.
