hi im wanting to buy a new graphics card and im looking at the GTX 480 but what i wanted to know is what is the diffrence between the nvidia, asus and the zotac versions and which one should i buy,

The Zotac version apparently omits the vrm heatsinks. The review models from Zotac curiously had a heatsink that failed to be implemented on the consumer versions.

all cards built to a reference design, some are given a usually small overclock and price bump, all run hot and loud so one with a improved cooler would be better, another price bump.

I would just buy the cheapest one you can find (from a reputable vendor).

possibly take a look for an overclocked 460 it will run a lot cooler

Why do you want that card, it's overpriced, big, produces a lot of heat and noisy, far better to go for a couple of 460 cards in SLI mode and get better results.

What size monitor do you have, do you run more than one monitor at the same time.

Another thing to remember will a 480 fit in your case, have a look here click here
