Finding inkjet printer that will take cheap ink?

  aca 13:10 02 Apr 07

I have tried to find a Canon Pixma IP1500 but it has been discontinued. For all new models the compatible cartridges are priced similar to genuine.

Is anyone able to suggest any current budget inkjets (£25-£30) that will use cheap cartridges.

Have you considered the option of a mono laser printer?

Under £60 and that will do 1000 pages. So may work out about the same price if you dont do colour printing that often. Then all you do is buy some colour cartridges for your old printer to keep it running for any colour work you do.

Ebuyer seem to do it cheaper but not sure what postage for you would be like on each site. £45 on there. Thats probably cheaper than the inkjet overall.

Epson printers are a good example of low cost easily obtained cartridges. I use an Epson Stylus C86, and compatibles work out a less than a £1.00 each. This particular model uses 4 ink cartridges, so savings are more likely.

I would suggest you to buy a HP Inkjet Printer as it consumes less ink.

Hey everyone,

To be honest i would just go onto and price check canon printers.

Most new canons dont even have compatibles available so a black and colour could cost £25 a go.

The new epson printers such as R265,360,560 and most DX printers are quite cheap to run still.

The newest ink cartridges are to801/802.803/804/805/806 and T0711/712/713/714.
Yes the originals are quite cheap but at they are the newest and cheapest ones you can get at the mo.

HP lasts quite a long time and uses less ink but they do cost!

go to click here when you've bought your printer. Good service and well priced.
