external dvd re-writer drive

I am thinking of buying a Philips external dvd-rewriter for use with my PC and laptop.
the link to the laptop is click here

The PC is a 3Ghz Pentium 4 machine. The laptop is a 1.7 GHz Pentium M machine. The Philips website mentions the need for a Pentium 4 processor. Is this external drive still likely to therefore function with my laptop?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

I would think it would work with both. heres the Philips website for this writer click here it actually needs Pentium 4, 1 Ghz, the 1 Ghz is the important bit ignore the Pentium 4 bit so it should work with both providing they both have USB 2.0 ports not USB 1.1.
