Microsoft Surface PC release date, price and specs: All-in-one Surface PC to directly rival iMac
Upon receipt of my Acer Ferrari3000 laptop from Easy Computers Ltd, I
decided that this was worth a warranty upgrade- which included
accidental damage cover.
So, I emailed their Customer Services Dept and after sending a reminder
received a reply, asking me to telephone their salesman Garry.
His line was engaged, but after half a day, I got through to him and
explained that I wished to upgrade my warranty cover to 3 years etc.
He asked why I hadn't done this when I bought the laptop.
I explained that I wanted to make sure it was satisfactory and felt no
pressure at the time to look at ordering incidentals.
He explained that the salesperson should have explained to me that it
was best to upgrade cover at time of purchase.

Me: O.K., are you able to use the same credit card details I gave for the
Garry: No, it was by secure server.
Me: Fine, but will you deliver to my office address rather than my
Company headquarters address - where the company credit card is
registered - as was done with the laptop.
Garry: Yes but that will cost another 10.10 + VAT for the remote office to
Me: Yes, but that has already been done to enable the laptop to be
delivered to me.
Garry: I am trying to put you through to my MD - but his line is
Eventually spoke to a service manager who could only repeat that a
courier was their only option.
I will call and collect the warranty from their offices in Huddersfield. I
wonder if I ought to call for a police escort?
I would appreciate it if someone could explain the scam Easy Computers
are trying to avoid - whereby someone illicitly obtains an extended
warranty code number - for equipment they don't own. A number that
Easy would be unable to cancel?
