I have a Sony RDR-HXD995 DVD recorder and an Evesham desktop with a Writemaster CD/DVD R/W.
I thought of recording digital TV films etc on the desktop and watching them on my TV via the DVD recorder. Unfortunately all my old rewritable DVDs are 4.7GB DVD-RAM discs which the desktop says are incompatible. Can anyone recommend a compatible DVD format betwen my PC and DV recorder, please?

It will depend on whether you model of burner will support DvD-RAM... (seems not)

Thanks. I've got on my hands and knees and had a close look at the DVD writer in the desktop. It says it takes DVD+/-R and +/-RW, as does the DVD recorder.
So it is off to somewhere to buy a few suitable DVDs.

I am pretty sure that the Sony DVD Recorders will not use RAM discs.

I use DVD+RW discs on my PC and they work ok on my RDR-HXD.

Pine Man

His make and model supports DvD-RAM playback but not DvD-RAM record...

which i find a bit odd...

As you say, the Sony DVD recorder supports DVD RAM playback as I've tried it on the old DVD discs recorded on my previous JVC DVD recorder.
