Dv Pass-through

Need some help after scrambling my brains looking for a new camcorder. Keep finding out of date articles, discontinued lines etc. etc.
I know more or less what I want which is as follows :-
Make - Sony or Panasonic. Format - Minidv.
LCD 2.7", Dv pass-through capable, D/V In and Out,
A/V In. Budget - would like to stay under £500.00 but could stretch if this won't meet the spec.
My main usage will be holidays, grandchildren and family etc. I also want to recover my old VHS tapes (via the pass-through) and to do some fun-only editing.
All help and advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.
PS did consider Canon as an option but read that some models were failing after a year due to generic design fault.

I have an older Sony click here that has both dv in and out, had it for about 2 years now. I shopped around for a while and am really happy I chose this model, very reliable and easy to use, touch screen is very responsive.

You may still be able to get one click here
it looks to be in your budget and I would definitely recommend this model.

Good luck in your search.

Thanks for setting me on the right trail Pld. I fianlly settled for the DCR-HC96, which is a similar model. Getting it from Purely Gadgets Mon/Tue at a good price. Now have to decide which editing prog to go far as there seems to be a lot of choice in that field.
Thanks again.
