Do not automatically update date on microsoft Word

Good Evening All

It has been a long time since I had to reset defaults on my computer and I can't remember how to insert the date on a Microsoft Word document and not have it show the current day's date when I reopen at a later date. The update automatically box in the insert date drop down box does not work.

If any has any suggestions would really appreciate advice.

Thanks

Mrs Bear

This should be in the Helproom. I'm not sure what you want to do. Do you want the date to update or stay the same as the date you wrote the letter?

Insert>Field choose Date & Time then "CreateDate" if you don`t want the date to alter or "Date" if you want it to update every time you open the file or template.

I have word 2007, and go to Insert/Date & Time which then opens date format box. There's a check box for 'update automatically'.
