hi, i have a credit note for dixons to the value of £650. i have narrowed down my choices to two models. pc105 and the dcr trv33. in the specs both are reported to have only 690k effective video pixel. this seems rather low. i was under the impression that most cameras these days have 800k pixel resolution, or is the actual pixel always less than the total? my question is, is 690k the norm in this range of camera?

I think 690k is normal although 1M pixel cameras are becoming more readily available.

To put it into perspective, DVD resolution on PAL is 720 x 576 which equates to ~415k points of resolution. I think you will be satisfied with the quality achieved with either of the models you are considering.
