Looking to buy a decent scanner for under the £40 mark.

Any recommendations?

First choice is currently the HP Scanjet 2400C.

Canon Lide25 - good software and excellent scans - spend a tad more on the Lide60 and even better.

I've always had HP scanners - but when I used to supply them, I did find the budget models somewhat unreliable - never any problems with Canon ones.

Umax seem to do a good low budget priced unit. I have been using the AstraSlim SE for a number of years without any problems.Got everything, scan/copy/email etc.

Two other units that I use, are combined 4in1's printers, HP OfficeJet and Lexmark X5150. Both good and reliable, for these type of units.

The Canon is a good suggestion, but any of the better known names will suffice.

Don't forget that most scanner models are rebadged products and it's usually reasonably easy to work out who has actually manufactured a model.
