Data Recovery from trashed hard disks

I used an expensive (£3000) service to recover data from a broken disk drive. The results are very poor with lots of the files being unable to access as they have "concurrency errors".

Any one else had similar experience ? Is this the going rate or was I ripped off?

whether you were 'ripped off' or not. What I can say is that the figure you quote isn't at all unusual, and nor are the concurrency errors you mention.

File recovery is as much an art as a science, and results can be very flakey. That's why it just isn't worth bothering unless the files are particularly important/valuable. The worsr thing anyone can say in such circumstances is "I bet you now wish you had backed everything up to removeable media" I won't.
