Just been to Staples and they have the above which is a badged Medion. Specs P4 2MHz,15.2 widescreen tft, 512 ddr, 64mb MX440 nVidia graphics,40g h/d, win xp home, dvd/cdrw with ext. controls for dvd w/o having to go into windows for £999. Its a mobile processor btw. Nearly tempted there and then and thought I'll think it over first. A £1000 is not peanuts. I think its a very good offer though considering the specs.

Yes, it is isn't it. You know how it is, always waiting for a better deal. The offer lasts until the end of the month so I am going to think hard.

Would you recommend a Cybercom laptop MD 2551 for basic word processing, DVD use, and some small-scale desktop publishing?

  rickf 14:46 31 Jul 03

The one I bought is MD2552 which is well equiped to do everything basic + playing games and some video editing. I love the very good 15.2 widescreen which comes with it. 64ddr GeForce4 MX M Go graphics displays very good images for games and DVD playback. On offer at £999 reduced from £1200.

BTW, the limitation of video editing is that the H/D is only 40g. It comes with 512DDR.I am very pleased with it as you can see.
