Crossfire Or Sli?

  bakerboy79 14:17 14 May 06

Im just about to order my pc components but im alittle stuck on whether to order a ATI Radeon X1900 ***Crossfire Edition*** 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI and a Asus ATI Radeon EAX-X1900 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express). Or would going Sli be better with two XFX GeForce 7900 GTX 512MB XXX Edition GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express). Any comments would be greatful.

SLI every time if it's gaming you're into.

I read an article in PcPro a while that that said that SLI gave the best performance boost across the board.

And I'm having trouble detting my parnter to understand the need for one 7900GT to replace my 6800GS!

Forgot to put my spelling head on!

How about telling her you need two, then agree to compromise and settle for one? !

Such a simple idea, it might just work :-)

The latest PC Pro magazine (July 06 issue) have reviewed 48 major cards, they put both the x1900xt and x1900xtx (albeit as standalone cards) faster than the 7900gtx.

Or, you could be even more devious...

...tell her you really need 4. She thinks you need 0, and therefore going down the middle would only be fair :)

Sli is faster than crossfire. A single ATI will beat a single Nivida but i would go SLI because when you add the second card it will be faster, be that now or in the future.

Yes SLI is faster but when you see how much space is taken by two cards , power requirements, amount of heat generated and in the end the quality of the NVIDA graphics (picture)I would always go with ATI .Yes you may sacrifice little bit of performance but you will get higher quality silicon and you will be sure that benchmarks can be repeated in the real life unlike the NVIDA's result that are obtained by cheating on their drivers ( reducing quality of the video in order to boost performance)
Go with ATI.
