I am going to wait till windows 7 comes out in October. I am not a gamer and would use the computer for internet, email and other media orientated operations. This would be my first computer and there are so many to look at that my head is spinning! I always think it is through actual consumer experience that you can find the best appliance in anything. I hope anyone out there can suggest manufacturers that can produce reliable, energy efficient, value for money desktops.

Dell produce reliable, value for money PCs and laptops.

As for "energy efficient" - don't waste your time.

All PCs and laptops consume very little electricity compared to electricity 'guzzlers' such as washing machines, tumble dryers, ovens, etc.

The only way to make PCs and laptops even more energy efficient is to ensure that the user (you) switches the computer off overnight.

The Novatech Ion range is very energy efficient click here

They won't be very powerful but would be OK for surfing and office applications.
