Centrino notebooks for less than £1000 (inc.VAT)

Hi folks,

We've just got a press release from PC World which claims it is the first to market with a sub £1000 (inc. VAT) Centrino-based notebook.

We're not 100 percent convinced this is the case. James, a nice sales chap at Dell, reckons the direct giant will put a 1.3GHz Centrino based notebook for £880 (inc. VAT), though the rest of the spec is admittedly lower.

Just wondering if anyone out there had come across sub £1000 Centrino-based notebooks.

Thanks, as ever, and have a great weekend.

As you use the present tense for PC World and the future for Dell, then the former's claim would be correct providing there are no other suppliers.

PC World has got it wrong, as far as the laptop goes. This is because Novatech - click here - has already got a range of Centrino laptops from £799 ex VAT (I think). However they charge extra for the Operating system - Currently WinXP He/Pro. Further software will also have to be bought such as an office suite.

The software, is what the PC World offer will bundle in the offer.

For any PC World lawers reading. I would like to rephrase "PC World has got it wrong" to "PC World may have got it wrong". Thank you.
