cd rewriter

  Kingfisher 16:40 15 Jan 04

I have a 3year old dell dimension xps t600 it is a 600mhz machine with win 98 se and 512mb ram I cannot afford a new p.c. just yet. Will this processor cope with me fitting a cd rewriter, and if so any recommendations as to which one.

Many thanks

I think that this thread may be moved to the helproom. As to the question, you may need a bigger psu, but on the other hand it may run ok on your present config.

I used to have a 166MHG running win 98, 128MB ram. cd writer ran fine with no problems, You should not have any problems at all.

yup! I used to run a cd-rw on a 233MMX with win98
no problems, and the power supply was a generic.

OOPS, as to which one to get, try retail so you get the software supplied to burn cd`s.
plenty on the market, liteon, sony, asus.

You could try here

They have an offer on their homepage. It's an LG CD writer and is selling for £15.98 oem and comes with Nero 5.5.

At that price I've just been out and picked one up. Swapped it with the one I already have as it's a bit quicker reading and writing.
