`cd record` gone

i`m making slow progress in trying to resolve a problem with my dvd/cd rewriter.

when i put a blank disk in the drive i get the message `d is not accessible..incorrect function`.

when i open my computer and right click then select `properties` there is no `record` tab showing. i believe there should be.
i read something in microsoft knowledge about resolving this but it didn`t work.

can anyone confirm that `record` shold be there and also how do i get it back.
thirdly, is the driver software the same for a recordable and a non-recordable drive?
any help gratefully received. thanx

The standard Windows driver works for both CD/DVD-ROM and rewriter drives - it should install the driver automatically when you first add a drive(s).
