Canon printer

I purchased the latest Canon printer ,Pixma MP550
Unlike my previous Epson the colours produced on photographs did not match the screen.I emailed Canon and they replied promptly and asked a lot of questions which I answered but they have not come back to me since.
Not enamoured with their after sales service

you need to calibrate the monitor plenty of free progs out there just google.

Essentially- because the screen is illuminated[called additive] and the printed images is reflective[called subtractive] you have to make a screen image much brighter to appear acceptable in print.
How much brighter?
Trial and error I am afraid and the usde of a good image editor.
Much dependent of the colour of the paper and the characteristics of the printer and ink formulation
