I need to replace my old router and would like some advice on which one to purchase. The N150 or N300. and which manufacturer. I tried a Belkin N150 yesterday but had no end of problems with it so I returned it to the shop. I run on my desktop Windows XP and laptop Windows 7.

I know Virgin used to give you a NWGR614 Netgear Router so you should be safe enough getting a Netgear one.
Daughter still uses it.

I spotted this on ebuyer a few nights ago - click here. For £20 it's an absolute steal! Buffalo is a very well respected brand too.

Thank you for all your advice.

I've got a Buffalo router working with my Virgin Media Modem. Not that model but it was easy to install and set up and I've had no problems with it.

Virgin give you a D-Link DIR-615 nowadays. Haven't had any snags with it using XP and Vista.

I think that's only when you are a new customer, you have to pay for it otherwise.

Sorry didn't make it clear that I was referring to buteman's post.
