Hi! I'm looking to buy a laptop with around $500 to spend. I'd be using it mostly for Rosetta Stone and possibly Netflix and watching DVDs so a big screen would be nice, I have speakers I can hook it up to so sound quality is no biggie. What do you suggest? Thank you! ~Erin

What Country are you in. I noticed that you use a $ sign

US

My knowledge is UK based, but generally speaking, avoiding mass produced machines carries a small risk, but usually produces better results, both in terms of speed and customer service.

Ok thanks! Any specific model/brand that you might suggest?

Asus X540LJ! I think nice model!

You should bare in mind that a Model, effectively identical, may have a different Name/Number from one Store Group to another and from Country to another

Thank you! Any other suggestions are welcome so I can do a comparison. Maybe something with a 20" screen?

I don't remember ever seeing, hearing of, a laptop with a screen as big as that

There have been a few 20" out in the past, not sure if there are newer ones out now though. I think hp made one before. Haven't been in the market for a laptop in years, which is why I was seeking advice.

On the basis of a Google Search, I don't think that your $500 Budget will suffice
