Buying a Laptop for around £500

I'm very interested in buying a laptop. Budget is around £500 (absolute max would be £600 but don't want to spend that much).

Uses would be internet browsing, watching DVDs and, ideally, a bit of video editing.

It would also have to have wireless broadband ability and, if possible, a serial port (or would a USB serial adapter work fine on a laptop).

Any suggestions?

Try the ACER AS5102WLMI click here £499 from Comet, a good price for a laptop with a 120Gb Hard Drive (ideal if you will be video editing) and 15.4" widescreen. The laptop comes partitioned so you may have to partition it as you wish. I know people who have the laptop and they really like it, it's not too heavy either.

Sorry I forgot to say, it also has 1Gb RAM and built in WiFi which works well.
