Budget PC Buying Advice

Hi, I have been asked for advice regarding the purchase of a new budget PC.

The PC will primarily be used for office work (Word, Excel, Publisher), internet surfing and possibly music playback. It will not be used for gaming. The PC should be capable of these tasks and as much as possible be future-proof (for these tasks).

I have looked at the reviews by PC Advisor on this site and in the magazine and a lot of top rated "Sub-500 PCs" seems to be aimed at gamers and some come with light up cases etc...

My instinct (or possible laziness) is telling me to recommend just getting one of the cheaper Dell PCs. However I do notice that the Dell specs are not as good as some of the PC Advisor recommended PCs.

Any help in choosing a recommendation would be much appreciated.

I am currently looking at the Dell Inspiron 530 DT(D035020) which is selling for £599 with the following spec:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E8400 processor (3.00GHz, 1333MHz, 6MB cache)
Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium with Service Pack 1, 32-bit - English
2Yr In-Home Warranty Support, including evenings and Saturdays
Microsoft® Works 9.0 with Home and Student Trial - English
3072MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024 + 2x512]
20in S2009W WIDESCREEN UK Black (1600 x 900)
640GB (7200rpm) SATA Hard Drive
256MB ATI® Radeon™ HD 3650 graphics card
DVD +/- RW Drive (read/write CD & DVD)
Dell™ Entry Quietkey USB Keyboard - UK/Irish (QWERTY)
Dell 2 Button USB Scroll Optical Mouse - Black

What are peoples opinion of this?

"I do notice that the Dell specs are not as good as some of the PC Advisor recommended PCs."

but there's more to buying a PC than spec in my opinion.
The PC Advisor reviews, as PC Advisor themselves state, do not take into account product reliability or customer service.
