Budget colour laser

With a 500-1000 sheet mailshot to prepare next Tuesday or Wednesday, it occurred to us that one of the current crop of budget laser printers might be a wiser move than getting Prontaprint to do the printing. We need a best combination of speed, sharpness, and consumables that will continue to be available at reasonable cost. I'm looking at an Insight catalogue, and although a Xerox Phaser 7300 at £2050 looks great, with A3 and fast speed, I think we're more in Epson Aculaser C1100 country at £219! Any thoughts on how I can shake down the issues and make a decision?
