Best Broadband Router- Ethernet or USB connection

  DILLON.T 15:24 17 Nov 04

Im looking to connect a Playstation 2 and PC to a broadband router. BT are offering a free router BT Voyager 205 which has only 1 USB and 1 Ethernet connection. The console cannot be connected by USB so the PC will have to use the USB connection.

Is there any diference between connecting a PC by USB or Ethernet? Which is better?

Any other comments on this router would be welcome.

check if the usb is usb 1 or usb 2, if it is usb 1, then you have performance difference because transfer rate for usb1 is 12mbps, Ethernet normally on 100 mbps unless it is really old (old one on 10mbps), newest on 1000mbps.

problem can be easily solved by connect Ethernet to another router with more ports, 4 ports router costs £18 click here. This router even with a printer server as well

Or you can throw away free one and get a cheap 5 porter (one usb and 4 ethernet) adsl modem router £29.99 click here
