Best 4k graphics card on a budget

I recently bought a 4k monitor only to realise that my PC doesn't support 4k resolution currently!

The monitor supports 4k at 30fps.

What is the best 4k graphics card I can get for the cheapest price that will play 4k video smoothly. I have no intention of gaming on my PC. Any advice is much appreciated, I went to PC world and the guy was useless!

Can you tell us what monitor you have? depending on model it is likely to have a DisplayPort connection. If it does that is likely to support 4K resolution at 60Hz, not just 30Hz. Either way you will need a beefy card to run games well at 3840x2160.

Sorry, missed your point about not gaming on first read of your post. With the prices of Nvidia 9xx cards dropping they might be your best bet, just check the manufacturer's specification to ensure that it can handle 4K video.

Thanks for your reply and help. It's an Acer CB241HQK 23.6" 4K2K IPS Monitor. It has a Displayport I apologise it does indeed stipulate Resolution: 3840x2160@60Hz
