Hey, I'm looking to buy a gaming PC, mainly to play things like TrackMania and Team Fortress 2 with my mates. I'm aiming to spend a max. of £450 on the system as I aim to have the system along with a monitor, mouse, keyboard and speakers for around £600. Here is the system I have built on OverClockers:

  • OCZ ZS Series 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
  • Onboard Sound Card
  • OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
  • Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKX)
  • MSI HD 5450 1024MB GDDR5 Low Profile PCI-Express Graphics Card
  • Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (KHX1600C9D3X2K2/8GX)
  • Asus M5A78L-M LX AMD 760G (Socket AM3+) DDR3 MicroATX Motherboard
  • AMD Stock Cooler (None overclocked systems)
  • AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core 4170 Black Edition 4.20Ghz (Socket AM3+) Processor How does that look? Thanks,

-Luke

Obviously a bit difficult on your budget, but I would suggest checking out Cougar Extreme PC.

Their ATI Agressor is similar price, but better CPU, and much better grahics. Don't forget cost of operating system, which I presume your overclockers quote also doesn't include.

Thanks frybluff, the quote can include Windows 7 Home Premium for an extra £50. But my friend has a copy of the same OS that he's put on several different machines. But I'll definitely check them out, thanks a lot.

The weak link in your proposed system is the graphics card so if you manage to get any additional money then upgrade this.

Also a good idea to check out "user reviews", for supplier's customer service, especially if they are building something "customised". There are several threads on this forum (and others), about both companies.
