Any software that halts non essential processes?

I'm looking for some software that will automatically stop any non essential processes running on my PC - usually for when I'm about to start editing home movies, to save some RAM.

I've heard "End It All 2" may do the trick - any others I should consider (and are any of them free ?)

Thanks for that - I've installed and run the program but it isn't populating with anything in its window when I run it. Maybe my security is blocking it?

Any suggestions to fix or any other programs much appreciated
